The November 30/30 Challenge - Day 8. The Ballet Of Boxing!

Welcome to Day Eight of The November 30/30 Challenge.

Today's activity highlight is Boxing!

I read a wonderful quote about boxing once and I've never forgotten it!

"To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there's no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other".

Jack Handy

Don't you just love it?

For women, boxing is most often done in the form of an exercise class. Don't get me wrong, there are some women who choose to go head to head in the boxing ring, and if you're one of those women, I applaud you!

But as I've said before, I'm scared of doing anything where I might hurt myself, so taking another women on in the ring is not for me.

So, an exercise class it is.

Boxing is definitely a social sport and classes usually involve sparring with others. Most classes have roughly 15 to 20 people, with a lot of emphasis placed on pad work. If you're worried that you're not strong enough to do one of these classes, you needn't be. It is all about technique, rather than strength, and most classes will teach you how to punch properly, which is really important to reduce the risk of injury to your wrists.

Some of the benefits of Boxing are:

Full body workout.

Weight loss.

Increases metabolism.

Involves both cardio and strength training.

Increase in muscle strength and tone.

Improves coordination.

So go punch someone today!

Well, you know what I mean.

  1. Your still doing this challenge! Not that I mind, I had a nice scroll and saw some of the beautiful images and ya'know I'm a visual girl.

Sorry I haven't visited for a while. I'll try to come by more often. WF4K is taking up so much of my time at the moment. Good time though but it means I don't have as much time to visit my fave bloggy freinds.

    1. Hello lovely! I was just thinking about you yesterday!
I'm so glad WF4K is going well for you! And don't apologise! I'm spending so much time writing with this challenge, that I've hardly had the time to read anything!
I'm so far behind with my blog reading, it's not funny!

So good to hear from you :)

  4. We do boxing at just about all our training sessions - I never used to like it - in fact I HATED it - but I am growing to like it as my arms get stronger. Certainly is a great work out !!!
Have the best day and thanks again for the challenge - without it I doubt I would have moved much even though the time is booked out in my diary !

  6. Boxing has never appealed to me as a form of exercise but I know it would do wonders for my cardio-vascular fitness...for now I'll try to get in more regular walking and then consider something new!
