The November 30/30 Challenge - Day 13. HI YA!

Welcome to Day Thirteen of The November 30/30 Challenge.

The activity highlight for today is Karate!

A lot of people wouldn't know this about me, but I used to do karate!

I only did it for about a year, long enough to do my first grading from white to yellow belt. I really enjoyed it and would have continued with it, had the company I trained with not changed management. The new owners were more about the money than anything else, and their standards really went by the wayside. It was a real shame too, as they trained at a school right at the end of my street, which was perfect for me!

Nevertheless, karate is a fantastic way to get fit! It is a martial art that is fast paced, involving lots of sharp arm and leg movements. It also involves the mind, by requiring lots of concentration.

Other benefits of Karate are:

Teaches self defence.

Full body workout.

Improves balance and co-ordination.

Improves flexibility.

Develops agility.

Promotes respect and courtesy.

Teaches discipline.

I actually think the biggest bonus of all is getting to wear those spunky white pyjamas!

What do you think?

    1. It's a great photo, isn't it!
What a shame your son wasn't able to continue with it. Perhaps he found something else to replace it? :)

  4. I love Karate. I am an Orange Belt with GKR Karate Do, however I am unable to train as often as I would like due to a combo of one income not allowing enough funds left over for luxuries like sport or outings and a shift working other half- thus not having someone to look after miss 2.5.

There's always things that stop us from doing what we love, isn't there! At least you do it when you can, Lisa! :)

    1. It is a great photo, isn't it Deb! No, it's not me. I would more likely be on the ground, rather than flying through the air like that! lol
Your dad doing it is a great recommendation for you. Maybe you might decide to try it one day too :)

  6. I did do Karate for a whole year when I was a teenager, so clearly I am an expert.

My hubby has a black belt in TKD.

    1. Yes, Sophie, as much of an expert as I am! lol

Wow, your hubby must be fit! My sister and brother in law both did TKD for ages, but for memory, I think they stopped before getting to black belt. I can't quite remember, but anyway, they are as fit, as fit, as fit, so I can imagine your hubby would be the same! Noice! :)

  7. I always wanted to do Karate as kid but because I did dancing and music lessons my quota of after school activities was full and I loved dancing too much to give it up. I'd never thought to give it a go as an adult but its definitely something to think about.

    1. You should think about it Kylie! Maybe when little Mia gets older, you can do it as a family!
I was always more into dancing too, when I was younger. Did Jazz ballet for years :)

    Take care !

    1. I wasn't quite at the contact side of things, only being a yellow belt, and I don't know how I would have gone getting to the higher belts. Some of those guys were scary! lol
Hope your back is doing better, hun xx
